Version 1.1, dated 13 August 2026
These are the terms we work to. Please read them alongside your quote and invoice.

These terms apply to every job we carry out, unless we have agreed something different with you in writing. If any part of them is unclear, please ask – we would much rather explain something up front than have it come as a surprise later.
3.1 Our quote is valid for 7 days from the date we give it. After that we may need to re-quote, as material and scaffolding costs move.
3.2 The price covers the work set out in the quote, based on what we were able to see and inspect at the time.
3.3 Roofs sometimes hide problems that only come to light once work starts – rotten timbers or failed decking, for example. If we find something like that, we will stop, show you, and agree the cost with you before carrying on. We will not add charges you have not approved.
3.4 Any additional work you ask for after the quote is agreed will be charged on top, at a price agreed with you first.
Our invoices are payable immediately on receipt.
4.1 Unless we have agreed something different with you in writing before work begins, payment is due as soon as you receive our invoice.
4.2 Please pay by bank transfer to the account shown on the invoice, quoting the invoice number so we can match it up.
4.3 If you would prefer a different arrangement – staged payments, or a set date – just ask us before the work starts. We are usually happy to accommodate it. Anything we agree will be confirmed in writing.
4.4 Where a deposit or staged payment has been agreed, we will not start or continue that stage of the work until it has been received.
4.5 Any deposit you pay is non-refundable. It holds your dates and covers materials ordered and scaffolding booked specifically for your job. This does not affect your right to change your mind within 14 days, set out in section 9.
We would always rather talk than chase. If money is tight, or something about the work is not right, please tell us – we will do our best to sort out an arrangement that works for both of us. If we do not hear from you, this is what happens:
5.1 After 7 days – we will send you a polite reminder.
5.2 After 14 days – we will send a second reminder, and interest begins to run on the unpaid amount, calculated from the original due date.
5.3 After 30 days – we may take steps to recover the amount owed, and the reasonable costs of doing so will be added to your account.
5.4 We will always contact you before taking the step in 5.3.
6.1 For customers who are individuals or households, interest is charged at 4% a year above the Bank of England base rate, calculated daily on the unpaid amount from the due date until payment is received.
6.2 For business customers, the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 applies, and we may claim statutory interest and the fixed sum compensation allowed under that Act.
6.3 We will only ever charge costs we have actually and reasonably incurred in recovering what is owed.
7.1 We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, using suitably experienced people and materials of satisfactory quality.
7.2 We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months from the date the work is completed.
7.3 Where materials carry a manufacturer’s guarantee, we will pass the benefit of it on to you.
7.4 Our guarantee does not cover storm or accidental damage, work that has been altered by someone else, movement in the building itself, or fair wear and tear.
7.5 Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Please make sure we have safe access to the working area on the agreed dates, including somewhere to place scaffolding and unload materials. If we cannot get access and have to return another day, we may need to charge for the wasted visit – we will tell you before we do.
If we agreed the work somewhere other than our business premises – at your home, for example – you have 14 days from the day we agreed it to change your mind, at no cost to you. If you asked us to start the work within those 14 days and then cancel, you will need to pay for the work already carried out up to that point.
Please tell us as soon as you can, by phone on 07782 664697 or by email to contact@riverstoneroofing.co.uk. We will acknowledge your concern within 5 working days, come and look at it, and put right anything that is our responsibility.
11.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
11.2 If any part of these terms turns out not to be enforceable, the rest of them still apply.
