Elevate RubberCover EPDM flat roofs for extensions, garages, dormers and bays across Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire & Norfolk — fitted by a company director trained on the system by Permaroof UK, Elevate’s authorised distributor.
Elevate RubberCover is an EPDM synthetic rubber roofing system made for residential flat roofs up to 150 square metres, and Riverstone Roofing Ltd fits it across Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Our company director, Sam O’Neill, completed the Elevate RubberCover training programme with Permaroof UK in September 2026. The membrane is bonded to a sound timber deck with contact adhesive, so no flame is used on your roof, and on most extensions, garages and dormers it goes down as one sheet with no joins. Elevate puts the membrane’s life expectancy at more than fifty years, even in full sun. A rubber roof only lasts that long if the deck, falls, upstands and edge trims are done properly, which is what the training covers and what we check on every job. Every roof comes with a free written quote, a fixed price and the guarantee terms in writing before we start.

Elevate RubberCover training certificate no. 6494, presented by Permaroof UK, 29 September 2026
On 29 September 2026 our company director completed the Elevate RubberCover training programme, presented by Permaroof UK, Elevate’s authorised distributor. The course covers the whole RubberCover system: preparing the deck, bonding the membrane, forming corners and upstands, and fitting the trims and outlets the way Elevate specifies.
That matters because a rubber roof rarely fails in the middle of the sheet. It fails at the edges, corners and upstands when they are rushed. Fitting the system exactly as the manufacturer specifies is also what keeps the manufacturer’s guarantee valid.
Genuine Elevate RubberCover, not an unbranded membrane — with the manufacturer’s guarantee passed on to you in writing.
Bonded with contact adhesive, so there is no torch near your fascias, roof void or neighbours.
A rubber roof is only as good as what is under it and how its edges are finished. Here is how we do both.
We measure the roof, check the deck, falls and drainage, and give you a fixed written price with the guarantee terms set out.
The old felt or covering comes off and is taken away. We check the joists and replace any rotten or damaged timber.
A new 18mm OSB3 deck goes down where needed, with firrings to correct the falls so water drains away.
The RubberCover membrane is laid out, left to relax, then bonded to the deck with contact adhesive — usually as one sheet.
Corners and upstands are formed and sealed, then edge trims, drip details and outlets are fitted to Elevate’s method.
We check every edge, upstand and outlet, take all the waste away, and give you your guarantee in writing.
Every Elevate RubberCover roof we fit includes the things that make a rubber roof last:
A manufacturer’s system with a life expectancy of more than 50 years, according to Elevate.
On most domestic roofs the membrane goes down in one piece, so there are no seams to open up.
Bonded with contact adhesive — no gas torch anywhere near your roof.
Rotten boards out and 18mm OSB3 down where needed, so the rubber lies flat and stays bonded.
Edge trims, drip details, upstands and outlets fitted to the manufacturer’s method.
Our workmanship guarantee and the manufacturer’s guarantee, both set out before we start.

Most of the EPDM roofs we fit replace a tired felt roof. Here is what changes when you make the switch.
| Torch-on felt | Elevate RubberCover EPDM | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical lifespan | 10–20 years | Life expectancy of more than 50 years, according to Elevate |
| How it is laid | Several layers, heat-applied with a gas torch | One membrane, bonded with contact adhesive — no flame |
| Joins | Overlapping seams between every roll | Usually one sheet on a domestic roof, with no joins |
| In cold weather | Becomes brittle and can crack as it ages | Stays flexible |
| Upkeep | Patching and re-felting as it ages | Little beyond keeping outlets and gutters clear |
| Up-front cost | Lower | Higher than felt, but lasts several times as long |
Lifespans assume a properly prepared deck and correct detailing at the edges and upstands. Weighing up EPDM against GRP fibreglass as well? See our flat roof installations page.

What homeowners most often ask us about rubber roofs. Got another question? Just give us a call.
EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a synthetic rubber membrane used to waterproof flat roofs. It stays flexible in hot and cold weather, does not crack the way old felt does, and on most domestic roofs it is laid as a single sheet with no joins.
Elevate says its RubberCover membrane has a life expectancy of more than 50 years, even when exposed to sunlight. In practice a rubber roof lasts as long as the deck under it and the detailing at its edges, which is why we prepare both properly.
You get our own workmanship guarantee and the manufacturer’s guarantee on the Elevate membrane, both in writing. The exact terms are set out on your quote before any work starts, so you know what you are getting.
No. RubberCover is bonded to the deck with contact adhesive, so there is no gas torch on your roof. That makes it a safer choice next to timber fascias, roof voids and neighbouring properties.
We don’t recommend it. Laying rubber over old felt traps damp and hides rot in the deck. We strip the old covering, check the timbers and lay a sound deck, which is what the membrane needs to bond properly.
Most garage, extension and dormer roofs take one to three days, depending on the size, the access and how much of the deck needs replacing. The adhesive needs a dry day, so we plan around the weather.
Almost always. Elevate RubberCover is designed for residential flat roofs up to 150 square metres, which covers nearly every extension, garage, dormer, porch and bay roof. For a balcony or a roof you will walk on often, we may recommend GRP fibreglass instead — see our flat roof installations page.
It depends on the size of the roof, the state of the deck, and how many upstands, outlets and trims it needs. We look at the roof and give you a free, fixed written quote with no obligation.
